विनयतारा फाउण्डेसन (बिटिएफ) ले भारतको मध्यप्रदेश सरकारसँग जिल्ला अस्पताल उज्जयनमा पेलिएटिभ केयर (पीडा कम गर्ने) तथा होम हस्पीस स्थापना गर्ने बारे सम्झौतापत्रमा हस्ताक्षर गरेको छ । यो सात करोड तीस लाख जनसंख्या रहेको राज्यमा प्रदान गरिएको पहिलो होम हस्पीस तथा पेलिएटिभ सेवा हुनेछ । होम हस्पीसको उद्देश्य चरम अवस्थाका बिरामीलाई उनीहरुको जीवनका अन्तिम केही महिना परिवारका साथ बीना पीडा र छटपटी शान्ति तथा सम्मानसँग जीउने व्यवस्था गर्नु हो । यसप्रकारको होम हस्पीस कार्यक्रममा हस्पीस केयर टिम यस्ता बिरामीहरुको घरमै गएर उनीहरुलाई चाहिएको सेवा प्रदान गर्दछन् ।

नोभेम्वर २१, २०१६ मा बिटिएफका अध्यक्ष डा. विनय शाह र मध्य प्रदेश लोक स्वास्थ्य एवम् परिवार कल्याण विभागका प्रतिनिधि कलेक्टर संकेत बोन्धेले सो सम्झौतापत्रमा हस्ताक्षर गरेका हुन् । समारोहमा मध्य प्रदेशका उर्जा मन्त्रि श्री प्रकाश चन्द्र जैन लगायत अन्य सकारी पदाधिकारी पनि उपस्थित थिए । यस सम्झौता अनुरुप बिटिएफ चिकित्सक तथा नर्सहरुलाई तालिम दिनेछ र हस्पीस कार्यक्रमका लागि इलेक्ट्रोनिक मेडिकल रेकर्ड सिस्टम प्रयोग गर्न सहयोग गर्नेछ । एक चिकित्सक र चार नर्सको एउटा टिमलाई चार हप्ते तालिमका लागि मार्च २०१७ मा अमेरिका लगिनेछ र सोहि टिमलाई अमेरिकाका पेलिएटिभ केयर दाताहरुले भारतमा थप आठ हप्ता तालिम दिनेछन् ।

हस्पीस केयर भारतमा नयाँ कन्सेप्ट हो । सहारोहमा विधायिका, स्वास्थकर्मी तथा सरकारी पदाधिकारीहरुलाई सम्बोधन गर्दै बिटिएफका अध्यक्ष डा. विनय शाहले भन्नुभयो, यस हस्पीस तथा पेलिएटिभ केयर कार्यक्रमले मध्य प्रदेशका सात करोड ३० लाख जनतालाई हस्पीस सेवा दिेन मात्र होइन, भारतको स्वास्थ्य इतिहासमा नयाँ अध्याय पनि लेख्नेछ । भ्रमणको क्रममा नेपाली अमेरिकन हेमाटोलोजिस्ट एवम् मेडिकल अन्कोलोजिस्ट डा. शाहले जिल्ला अस्पताल उज्जयनका १५ क्यान्सरका बिरामीहरुको जाँच गर्नुभएको थियो ।

बिटिएफले काठमाडौं नेपालमा सफलतापूर्वक होम हस्पीस स्थापना गरेको छ । सन् २०१६ जनवरी यता ७० भन्दा धेरै बिरामीले हस्पीस सेवा प्राप्त गरिसकेका छन् । विनयतारा फाउन्डेसन ( BTF) इलिनोइसको आन्तरिक राजस्व कानूनको दफा ५०१ (ग) (३) बमोजिम करछूट हुने गैर मुनाफायुक्त संस्था हो । बिटिएफ लोक कल्याणकारी योजना भित्र बोनम्यारो प्रत्यारोपण केन्द्र (बोनम्यारो ट्रान्सप्लान्ट सेन्टर ),  होम हस्पिस कार्यक्रम (होम हस्पिस प्रोग्राम), क्यान्सर स्क्रिनिङ, श्रोतसाधन नपुगेका समुदायका लागि चिकित्सा अनुसन्धान अनुदान जस्ता कुराहरु पर्छन् । बिटिएफका अन्य कार्यक्रमका जानकारी लिनका लागि, www.binayafoundation.org मा गएर बुझ्न सक्नु हुनेछ ।

Binaytara Foundation to develop hospice centers in Madhya Pradesh, India

Binaytara Foundation (BTF) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Madhya Pradesh in India to establish a palliative care and home hospice program at district hospital, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. This will be the first home hospice and palliative care service ever offered in the state with a population of 73 million. The goal of home hospice program is to provide peace, comfort, and dignity to patients with terminal illnesses by allowing them to spend the last few months of their lives among their loved ones, free of pain and discomfort. With home hospice programs like this one, the hospice care team visits terminally ill patients at their homes to provide comfort care as needed.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Binay Shah, BTF president, and Collector Sanket Bhondve,  representative of the Department of Public Health and Family Welfare, Madhya Pradesh on November 21, 2016. The Energy Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Prakash Chandra Jain and other government officials were also present during the MoU signing. Under this collaboration, the BTF will provide training of physicians and nurses and provide support for implementation of electronic medical record system for the hospice program. A team of four nurses and one physician will be brought to the United States in March 2017 for a four-week training. The team will be further trained in India for an additional eight weeks by a group of palliative care providers from the USA.

Hospice care is a relatively new concept in India. This home hospice program introduces the concept of home health care which is almost of unheard of in Madhya Pradesh, India, and more importantly, it addresses the needs of the terminally ill who are often left to die in pain and discomfort. Addressing a group of legislatures, healthcare professionals and government representatives during the MoU signing event, BTF president Dr. Binay Shah said, “This hospice and palliative care program will not only bring hospice care to the 73 million people of Madhya Pradesh but also will write a new chapter in the history of healthcare in India.” During his visit, Dr. Shah, a hematologist and medical oncologist, also examined 15 cancer patients at the district hospital in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.

BTF has successfully established a home hospice program in Kathmandu Nepal. More than 70 patients have already received hospice services through that home hospice program since January 2016.
