
Kathmandu, June 28. Renowned Nepali lyricist, poet, and literary figure Pushpa Khanal has been honored with the prestigious Musickhabar Diaspora Music Samman 2082 in recognition of her remarkable and sustained contribution to Nepali lyrics, literature, and music for nearly two and a half decades.
The honor was conferred during the 13th Musickhabar Music Awards 2082, recognizing her exceptional dedication to preserving, promoting, and expanding the global reach of the Nepali language, literature, and music while living abroad.
Since formally beginning her literary journey in 1998 (B.S. 2055), Khanal has established a distinctive identity in the field of Nepali creative writing through her contributions to lyrics, poetry, stories, and other literary genres. Currently based in Virginia, USA, she has continued her mission of promoting Nepali language, culture, and music on the international stage while remaining deeply connected to her homeland through her creative works.
Khanal has written more than 200 songs, many of which have earned widespread appreciation from Nepali audiences. Her popular works include Aama – Maile Pujne Dev, Maya Kewal Maya, Yo Aankhako Pani, Euta Majhi, Jiunai Parcha, Timro Khushi, Pyasi Pyasi, and Piratiko Geet. Her lyric collections Pokhiyen Yasari and Gah Pokhiyera, along with the music albums Pratishtha and Abhinav, have further enriched her creative legacy.
Over the years, Khanal has received several prestigious honors for her contribution to Nepali music. These include the Jyoti Films Music Award 2079 for Best Lyricist (Lok Pop), the Sagarmatha Music Award 2078 for Best Female Lyricist, the Young Mind Entertainment Award 2076 for Best Lyricist (National Theme), and recognition among the Top 10 at the World Lyricist Award in the Pop category. These accolades reflect her creativity, dedication, and lasting contribution to Nepali lyrics and music.
