NOA’s 24th Annual General Meeting Ignites Cultural Unity and Visionary Leadership Across the East Coast

Maryland, May 24, 2025 — The Newah Organization of America (NOA), a premier nonprofit championing Newah culture in the United States, successfully hosted its 24th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Life Member Appreciation Event at Flower Hill Elementary School, Maryland. The celebration drew a powerful cross-section of founding members, youth leaders, volunteers, and cultural advocates from across the East Coast.

The event opened with vibrant décor and a sacred procession led by NOA’s most senior founders and keynote speaker Mr. Saunak Ranjitkar, followed by traditional rituals including the lighting of Twadhaba and Sukunda.

After national anthems of the USA and Nepal, First Vice President welcomed attendees. General Secretary Ms. Babita Shrestha presented NOA’s Annual Report, while Acting Treasurer Mr. Navin Mohan Ranjit shared financial highlights. Updates on the JSB Scholarship and regional activities showcased NOA’s growing impact.

A major highlight was the Constitution Amendment Update, presented by Mr. Ranjit with his committee, resulting in the unanimous approval of three key amendments, reinforcing NOA’s commitment to transparency and evolution.

The digital launch of NOA’s flagship magazine Laskus, introduced by Editor-in-Chief Mr. Udaya Shrestha and launched by keynote leaders, celebrated heritage and creative expression.

Mr. Ranjitkar’s keynote, “Cultural Legacy: Evolving with Purpose from Tradition to Transformation,” explored how technology is empowering Nepal Sambat’s digital resurgence and cultural integration.

A panel featuring past and present NOA Presidents, moderated by Roshan Lal Shrestha, addressed the organization’s future, while presentations by author Anil Ranjit and designer Prasant Tamrakar reflected the community’s rich intellectual and artistic depth.

The event honored new Life Members, graduating students, and community leaders. In his closing remarks, President Mr. Mahindra Pradhan celebrated the collective spirit:

“This event exemplifies the power of collaboration, tradition, and shared vision. Together, we are building NOA’s legacy for generations.”

The day ended with a soulful musical performance by Mr. Sugandha Shrestha and a heartwarming community dinner.
