United Sherpa Association will be hosting Her Eminence Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche on Sunday, August 12, 2018. The event will start with an open discussion about women’s role in Buddhism historically and today (in English). Her Eminence will also bestow Tara (Dolma) empowerment.

Her Eminence Mindrolling Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche is one of the most popular and revered teachers in Vajrayana Buddhism who has taught in Europe, North America and Southeast Asia since 1987. Her Eminence is known for her teachings on the application of ancient Buddhist teachings to suit modern lifestyles and the world today.

Her Eminence was recognized at the age of two and has received teachings and transmissions from a young age. Her Eminence is a teacher in both the Kagyu and Nyingma schools. She completed her education at St. Joseph’s Convent, Wynberg Allen School, and St. Mary’s Convent. She has established and heads the Samten Tse Retreat Center in Mussoorie, India, and is also a resident teacher at Lotus Garden Retreat Center in Virginia, USA.

She is also actively involved with the administration of the Mindrolling Monastery in Dehradun, India. Why tara empowerment and the role of Tara in Tibetan Buddhism? Tara is one of the most important and central figures in Vajrayana Buddhism.

Her Eminence will transmit Tara teachings and explain the various roles that Tara plays in Vajrayana Buddhism. As Tibetan Buddhists, it is vital that we receive Tara teaching and learn more about the central role that Tara and women play in Buddhism.
