Kathmandu
A large crowd of visitors could be seen gathering early in the morning at an ashram in Tarakeshwar, Kathmandu. Some arrived with walking sticks, some were assisted by family members, while others shared stories of relief from long-standing ailments. Many had come seeking hope and spiritual guidance.
Simant KC, widely known among his followers as “Simant Guru,” has gained significant attention in recent years for providing free spiritual services. His methods, which include reading a person’s face to identify problems, blessing water and oil through mantras, and offering spiritual counseling, have attracted thousands of people from Nepal and abroad.
When this correspondent visited the ashram for Gorkhapatra, visitors were waiting in line for consultations and blessings. The atmosphere was calm, and volunteers were assisting with the management of the gathering.
Interview with Simant Guru
During the visit, Simant KC spoke about his spiritual practices, growing popularity, and the criticism surrounding his work.
Question: Guru Ji, where did you receive this spiritual power?
Simant KC: I am a devoted follower of Lord Shri Ram. Through spiritual practice and divine blessings, I believe I have received this knowledge. I consider myself only a medium.
Question: You claim to identify people’s problems by looking at their faces. What is the basis of this ability?
Simant KC: This is not the same as a medical examination. Through a person’s facial expressions, energy, and mental state, I feel I can understand certain signs based on my experience.
Question: Many people find it unusual that water, oil, and mantras can help in healing.
Simant KC: Faith, positive thinking, and spiritual energy can provide comfort and relief. I do not claim to perform miracles, but many visitors have shared positive experiences after receiving guidance.
Question: Some critics accuse you of promoting superstition. What is your response?
Simant KC: Criticism is natural. I do not charge anyone for my services. My only intention is to help people who seek support and guidance.
Question: How do you view modern medical science?
Simant KC: Medical science has its own importance and value. I always encourage seriously ill individuals to consult qualified doctors. My role is to provide spiritual guidance and emotional support.
Reactions from Visitors

Ram Krishna Adhikari, Chitwan:
“I first learned about the Guru through TikTok live sessions. More than physical healing, I feel that my confidence and mental strength have improved.”
Sabina Shrestha, Kathmandu
:“The fact that no fee is charged makes this service accessible to economically disadvantaged people. The benefits may vary from person to person, but many people find comfort here.”
Expanding Reach Through Social Media
Simant KC regularly interacts with thousands of people through TikTok and Facebook live broadcasts. According to him, not only people from Nepal but also Nepalis living abroad participate in these online sessions and seek spiritual guidance.
As his popularity continues to grow, supporters view his work as an effective form of spiritual service, while critics emphasize the need for scientific evidence and verification. Nevertheless, for many people facing economic hardship, emotional distress, or a lack of access to healthcare, the ashram has become a source of hope and reassurance.
While debates continue regarding the relationship between faith, spirituality, and modern science, the steady flow of visitors to the Tarakeshwar ashram reflects the trust and expectations that many people place in Simant Guru and his services.
