
Four days of devotion, fasting, and cultural celebration — organized by NECC and ANTA at the Germantown Temple Ground
Washington DC, USA – October 2025:
The Nepali and Indian communities across the United States are set to come together for one of the most spiritually significant events of the year — Chhath Puja 2025. The grand celebration will take place at the NECC Temple Ground, 11650 Snowden Farm Parkway, Germantown, Maryland, just outside Washington DC.
This sacred festival, dedicated to Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya, is being jointly organized by the Nepali Education and Cultural Center (NECC) and the Association of Nepali Teraians in America (ANTA). It symbolizes gratitude, purity, and devotion while promoting unity within the diaspora.
This year’s celebration will proudly carry the theme:
“From Nepal Mithila to Washington DC — One Heart, One Heritage.
🌅 Main Events
Day 1 – Sandhya Arghya (Main Evening Puja)
📆 Monday, October 27, 2025 | 🕒 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM | 🌇 Sunset: 6:13 PM
Devotees will gather to offer Sandhya Arghya to the setting Sun, accompanied by devotional bhajans, music, and the glow of countless diyas along the water.
🍛 A community volunteers’ dinner will follow the evening rituals.
Day 2 – Usha Arghya (Main Morning Puja & Prasad)
📆 Tuesday, October 28, 2025 | 🕕 5:30 AM – 7:30 AM | 🌄 Sunrise: 7:32 AM
The final morning will feature Usha Arghya to the rising Sun, followed by prasad distribution and a community breakfast to close the festival in harmony.
