‘Shanti Yagya’ was grand success in the premise of Pashupati-Buddha Mandir despite the weather condition. For the first time in the Americas ‘Shanti Yagya’ was organized by Nepal Education and Cultural Center (NECC) on March 22, 2015. Chandi recital was performed by eight ‘Pundits led by Pundit Dr. Raghu Nath Aryal and Bhajan (melodious spiritual song) was performed by Pundit Murari Naral and his team.  Approximately 500 people participated in the event including the NRN USA Annual General Meeting (AGM) delegates from across the US and as far as Canada. NECC facility is located 32 miles North-West of the White House in the greater Washington metro area.

NECC is delighted to share US $50,100.00 was raised from the event and details will be outlined in the Treasurer’s report. During the event, five families became the Trustee; they include Saroj & Krishna Prajapati, Hon. Consular for California Rishi & Bimala Dhakal, Rajesh & Neeva Pradhan, Rajendra & Sangeeta Siwakoti, and Magan & Nani Shrestha. The minimum requirement to become the trustee is $5,000.00 donation.  Similarly, 22 families enrolled to donate ‘dollar a day’ program, six families became the life member of the NECC. Requirement to be the life member is $2,000.00 donation and 13 families contributed the money for gravelling project in the NECC premise. NECC management team expresses the gratitude to those generous donors, community members and their families.

Chief guest Rishi Ram Ghimire, Charge de’affaires, Nepal Embassy, released the book ‘The best of the both World’ written by Neeva Mathema Pradhan during the event. Mrs Pradhan donated 20 books to the NECC. Similarly, Poet Ambika Gurung donated 300 books of poem collection which was released recently in Nepal. Also, a library was inaugurated by Honorary Consular Rishi Dhakal, NRN ICC Patron Dr. Ambika Adhikari and NRN USA President Khagendra GC jointly. The major contribution for this library was received from Balram Thapa of the Boudhik Sansar Pratisthan, Los Angeles, CA.  NECC team is grateful to Mr. Ghimire, Mr. Dhakal, Dr. Adhikari, Mr GC and Mr. Thapa for their devotion toward the NECC.

 

At the end of the concluding ceremony of the ‘Shanti Yagya’, while NECC Board of Trustee Chair Dr. Shyam karki welcomed the participants, NECC VP Prem Sangraula elaborated the financial aspects and expectation of the Yagya, and NECC President Khilendra Mani Neupane thanked all the diehard volunteers, generous donors, Ghar E Kabob for arranging the lunch and Prasad and all participants for their big support to make the event grand success.
