Nepa Pasa Pucha Amerikaye (NPPA) is inviting article submissions to our annual Daboo Magazine. We also invite you to submit essays, short stories, poems, opinion pieces, jokes, etc. If you would like to contribute, please familiarize yourself with our guidelines below. Our magazine will be released in November 2024 and your final submission must be emailed to [email protected] by July 31, 2024.

Our theme for this year’s Daboo is “Newah Art and Architecture” and we cordially invite you to submit your insightful articles, thought-provoking essays, and visually stunning pieces that explore the intersections of these dynamic fields.

Newah art and architecture have long been intertwined, each influencing and inspiring the other. From the grand 55 Window Palace of Bhaktapur to the Shikhara-style Krishna Mandir of Patan, the built environment has served as a canvas for Newah artistic expression, reflecting the cultural, social, and technological advancements of various eras. Newah art and architecture have played a crucial role in shaping the perceptions and experiences of the Newah nation state.

This special issue aims to delve into the rich tapestry of Newah art and architecture, celebrating their mutual influence and the ways in which they shape our world. We welcome submissions that cover a wide range of topics, including:

The evolution of Newah architectural styles and their cultural significance

The role of art in the design and construction of buildings

The intersection of Newah art, technology, and sustainable design

The impact of public art and installations on urban landscapes

The preservation and restoration of historic Newah architectural masterpieces

The relationship between Newah art, architecture, and the Newah experience

Renovation/reconstruction of architectural heritage after the earthquake

The future of Newah art and architecture in a rapidly changing world

Submission Guidelines:

Articles may be submitted in English, Nepal bhasa, or Nepali for evaluation and we are particularly interested in work that will appeal to a broad audience. Suggested submission length for articles is 2,000 words, and accompanied by high-quality visual materials, such as photographs, illustrations, or renderings, where applicable. If the author believes a theme article needs to be longer (maximum 3,000 words), then s/he should communicate with the editor prior to submission. As to style, we will respect your personal touch.

Author Biography: Please also include two to three lines of autobiographical information. (Where you live, your interests, community affiliations, etc.).

We also request that you support NPPA by placing your business advertisements and personal greetings in Daboo. You can do so by contacting any Executive Committee member of NPPA. The rates for 2024 are as follows:

Full inside front cover – $350
Full inside back cover – $250
Full page business – $150
Half page business – $100
Half page personal with photo – $75
Quarter Business – $50
Quarter personal – $35
