Born in Dharan and raised by a single mother, Adrian A. Pokharel’s story begins not with privilege, but with perseverance. In a household where every decision mattered, he learned early that strength is built quietly, through sacrifice, discipline, and an unshakable belief in something better.

At just 14 years old, after completing high school, Adrian left home and moved to Kathmandu to live with his oldest brother. It was a bold step for someone so young, but it revealed a defining trait that would shape his life: he did not wait for opportunity; he pursued it.

In 1995, that pursuit brought him to the United States. What began as a journey for education became a lifelong mission of service, resilience, and impact.
Over the years, Adrian built a career that reflects both breadth and depth. He served 14 years in the United States Army across active duty, Reserve, and National Guard, ultimately medically retiring in 2022 as a Captain. He supported counterintelligence missions in the Middle East alongside agencies such as the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, operating in environments where precision and trust were critical.

His civilian path was equally dynamic. He spent over a decade with Continental Airlines, served with the Houston Police Department, worked for the Transportation Security Administration, and held leadership responsibilities at BNSF Railway. He later transitioned into the intelligence community, serving as a senior officer at the National Security Agency and the Central Intelligence Agency.
But beyond service and titles, Adrian’s true impact lies in the lives he has touched.
For more than 11 years, he has been a committed mental health advocate, supporting over 2,000 individuals struggling with PTSD. He created safe spaces where people could speak without fear, heal without judgment, and rebuild without pressure. His work is not just advocacy; it is compassion in action.
Yet Adrian is not defined by a single path.
He is also an artist at heart—a singer, actor, writer, and poet. Through music, storytelling, and performance, he expresses the same resilience that defines his life. Whether writing books like “The MoMo War” and “Zero Trust Politics,” or crafting poems that reflect struggle and hope, he uses creativity as another form of service, reaching people not just through policy or security, but through emotion and connection.

Despite deployments, career transitions, and even stepping into the political arena by running for Congress, Adrian never abandoned his dream of higher education. After eight years of relentless effort, he earned his Doctoral degree in Strategic Security from National American University. His dissertation, “Autonomous Vehicles, Terrorist Threats, and U.S. National Security: An Analysis of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs)”, addresses some of the most complex and emerging threats of our time, bridging technology, security, and global risk.

Today, Dr. Adrian A. Pokharel continues his mission with clarity and purpose. He is focused on uplifting the Nepali American community, expanding mental health support, teaching future generations, and continuing to write and create.
His philosophy is simple, but powerful:
Do what you are supposed to do.
Do good. Be good.
And don’t let the noise of others distract you from your purpose.
Because he understands something many forget, people will always talk, but only you control your direction.
His message to the world:
“Dream—dream big. But don’t give up, and don’t give in. As long as you stay true to your purpose, do good, and keep moving forward, nothing is impossible.”
From a young boy in Dharan to Dr. Adrian A. Pokharel, his journey is living proof that success is not about where you start; it is about how relentlessly you move forward.
And in that journey, he is not just building a life—
He is building a legacy.
