
The Nepali Community of Greater Richmond Virginia (NCRVA) has selected its new leadership for the next two years. According to the constitution of the organization, which was formally established in 2023, a new 11-member working committee is selected every two years, and six months later, a 4-member executive committee is formed from among those 11 members. The four newly elected executive committee officers took over the position on Friday evening.

At the ceremony held in the hall of the local White Tiger Nepali Restaurant, among the 11 office bearers of the organization—Asim Rajbhandari, Amit Jwarchan, Indra Khanal, Chandra Malla, Nabin Bhandari, Neeru Tiwari, Pratap Paudel, Pashupati Ghimire, Rukesh Pokhrel, Suman Kandel, and Helen Rai—Chandra Malla was reelected as President, while writer Pashupati Ghimire assumed the position of new Vice President, replacing Asim Rajbhandari. Similarly, Helen Rai took position as General Secretary of the organization, replacing Suman Kandel. Rukesh Pokhrel was re-elected as Treasurer.

At the program, singers, artists, instrumentalists, and other volunteers who participated in this year’s Deusi Bhailo program organized by NCGRVA were honored with certificates. Likewise, senior citizen Mohankrishna Yogal honored four former office bearers of NCRVA with certificates. The gathering, attended by more than five dozen people, was conducted by Sarita Lamichhane. At the program, which also organized a dinner in honor of volunteers who actively participated in NCRVA’s Deusi Bhailo, outgoing General Secretary Suman Kandel highlighted the achievements made by the organization over the past two years.
