In a bold diplomatic move, President Donald J. Trump has stepped in to personally mediate peace efforts between Cambodia and Thailand, two Southeast Asian nations currently grappling with rising tensions.

The announcement came via Trump’s official social media platform, where he described promising conversations with leaders from both countries.

“I just had a very good call with the Prime Minister of Cambodia,” Trump shared. “I informed him of my discussions with Thailand’s Acting Prime Minister. Both sides are seeking an immediate ceasefire and lasting peace.”

Trump made it clear that while both governments are eager to re-engage in trade talks with the United States, he believes it would be inappropriate to resume negotiations while conflict persists.

“They’re ready to return to the trading table, but the U.S. will wait until the fighting STOPS,” he declared.

In a significant breakthrough, both Cambodia and Thailand have agreed to meet without delay to begin formal discussions on a ceasefire agreement and long-term diplomatic normalization.

Trump, expressing deep respect for the region’s rich heritage, said it was an “honor” to engage with both nations and voiced optimism for a peaceful future.

“When peace is achieved, we’ll move forward with strong trading agreements. I look forward to that day.”
