A 9-year-old girl from the Bhutanese community in Harrisburg sadly passed away at Hersheypark’s Boardwalk. This shocking news has deeply saddened the entire community. The incident happened at the wave pool within the park’s water area.
According to local news local21News.com ,A spokesperson for the “Bhutanese Community in Harrisburg” organization confirmed the tragic death, stating the girl was a resident of Harrisburg. The group’s chairman also posted a message on Facebook, urging everyone to be extremely careful around water. He wrote, “Even a moment of distraction can lead to heartbreaking consequences.”
The Bhutanese Community in Harrisburg (BCH) shared their sorrow, offering deepest condolences to the grieving family. They emphasized the importance of staying close and attentive to children near any body of water, especially during the busy summer season.
Hersheypark stated that 10 trained lifeguards were on duty at the wave pool during the incident. They reportedly acted immediately when they saw the girl in distress. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
The park is now conducting an internal investigation, with help from the Derry Township Police Department. As a sign of respect for the family and park employees, the wave pool was closed on Friday.
