From Busy Mom to Black Belt: My Taekwondo Journey

Being a mom of two with a hectic schedule often felt like a juggling act, leaving little room for myself. I wanted an activity I could share with my kids—something that would be good for both them and me. That’s when I met Master Balal, whose passion for Taekwondo inspired me to give it a try.

Starting out was tough. My body wasn’t used to the stretching and kicks, and everything felt overwhelming. But I was determined not to give up. Slowly but surely, I began to improve. Taekwondo became more than just a class; it was a lifeline that boosted my physical health, cleared my mind, and helped me find balance in my busy life.

The day I received my black belt was incredible—a symbol of my hard work and growth. But more importantly, it marked the beginning of a new chapter. I found inspiration in Masters like Master Junko Ma’am and Master Starks, who showed me that age doesn’t matter when it comes to taking on new challenges. Their dedication encouraged me to keep pushing myself.

I’m especially grateful to Master Jhalak and Master Sharada Rai Ma’am for their patience and support during my black belt preparation. Their guidance was invaluable. And thank you to Master Morte for constantly motivating me to pursue excellence and reminding me of the core values Taekwondo brings. For moms like me, Taekwondo is more than punches and kicks—it’s about reconnecting with yourself, regaining confidence, and setting a positive example for your kids. It teaches you to be resilient anddetermined, lessons that help in every part of life.

Even if my kids decide to stop, I know I’ll continue with Taekwondo. It’s become a part of who I am—a source of strength and fulfillment. To any mom thinking about trying Taekwondo: take that first step. Don’t let doubts or a busy schedule hold you back. You deserve something for yourself. It might be challenging at first, but the rewards—better health, sharper focus, and newfound confidence—are worth it.

Trust me, this journey is transformative. You’ll find strength you didn’t know existed, and your kids will admire your courage. Thank you, ATMAA Taekwondo, and all the amazing masters for believing in me. Moms, take that leap—you are stronger than you realize. Let Taekwondo show you your power. It’s never too late to start, and the journey is yours to enjoy.
