Contest
Mrs. Shristi Shrestha has been crowned as Mrs. Nepal Canada in a Grand Finale of first ever historic “Mrs. Nepal Canada” contest jointly organized by Women Education and Skill Development Organization (WESDO) and Nepal Fashion House (NFH). Mrs. Shrestha won the title of “Mrs. Nepal Canada” along with Mrs. Friendship title by eloquently answering the judge’s question on exiguousness of present world. Mrs. Shrestha, on her response to the question, expressed that the present world lacks empathy, quality to connect other with emotion and experience. Portraying her optimism towards better world, Mrs. Shrestha further elucidated that by fostering culture of empathy we can create better world where everybody feel heard, understood and accepted through working together with more empowered feeling.
Delivering the welcome speech, WESDO President Mrs. Chanda Shrestha illustrated that the contest was organized with the goal to empower women, enhance self confidence and showcase their hidden talents. Similarly, President of NFH Mrs. Hema Manandhar, who has organized “Miss Newa” for seventeen years in Nepal, told that this contest was her first ever contest organized in foreign country.
In the contest, Alisha Rajbhandari won first runner up with “Mrs. Photogenic” title where as Rashmi Thapa Magar won second runner up with “Mrs. Best Dress” title. Mean while, Amy Karmacharya won “Mrs. Talent” title and Shyam Limbu won “Mrs. Public Choice” title. Like wise, titles to Pratima Pradhan Shrestha as “Mrs. Best Personality”, Shanta Kafle as “Mrs. Discipline”, Anjila Joshi Shrestha as “Mrs. Best Skin”, Kripa Joshi as “Mrs. Best Hair”, Rebika Pradhan as “Mrs. Confidence” were also awarded.
In the event, chief guest Charge d’ Affaires a.i. Ms. Rojina Tamrakar of Nepal Embassy, Ottawa along with the judges awarded the crowns and gifts to the winners. The Grand Finale program was inaugurated jointly by Mr. Anil Thapa and Mr. Govinda Khatri where as Everest Reality Limited’s Mr. Madan Khatri Chhetri, the title sponsor of the event, opined the significance of the contest.
Before the awarding segment, contestants went through ramp walk, cultural round and question answer round. Panel of judges including Dr. Nilu Keshari, Ms. Neera Sharma, Dr. Sangita Dhaubadel, Dr. Sony Thapa, Er. Subhechchha Bhattarai had evaluated the winners of the contest where as Toronto based N Monarchs and The Misfits musical band had entertained the guests of the event.
