Toronto, info sessions on Sungava Homes Van Projects have been organized recently in different cities of Greater Toronto Area. Speaking at a session in Toronto, Mr. Jyoti Vaidya, an award winning London, ON based social activist, articulated about the need of appropriate delivery of services to the differently abled population to empower them. Mr. Vaidya elucidated the dire need of a van for Sungava Homes in present situation to continue the delivering services to equip its affiliated intellectually challenged girls and women with necessary skills towards their independency.

Mr. Vaidya further added that the accomplishment of the van project will not only help the intellectually challenged girls and women of Sungava Homes but also mitigate the emotional anxiety of their parents. Currently, most of the parents are stuck at home taking care their differently abled family members due to the dearth of transportation facility from their home to the newly located Sungava Homes. Once they are in the program of the Sungava Homes, the parents can be able to utilize the saved time to income generating activities and will also help end their worries. The project, being purely philanthropic nature, Mr. Vaidya appealed all to extend their support to make the project a success. At the program representative of Sewa Canada International, the collaborative partner of the project, had also explained about the modality of the project and support.

Sungava Homes, a registered charity in Nepal is home to intellectually challenged girls and women. It has been delivering day care services, vocational program, skill development program, domestic and life skill training, literacy programs and creative activities. Many students of the Sungava Homes are encountering difficulties accessing Sungava Homes due to the lack of reliable transportation option, which is causing irregular attendance, social interaction and drop off.
