Huawei MNC Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 completed; more than 15 sessions conducted in 6 different themes

The 2-day Huawei MNC Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 organized by ICT Foundation Nepal has been completed with enthusiastic participation. With the slogan of Fostering Digitally Sakshyam Nepal, more than 15 sessions were conducted on 6 themes in the conclave held on Friday and Saturday for 2 days at The Soaltee Kathmandu.

On Friday, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ was the chief guest and Communication and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma was present as a special guest.

For the closing event, Finance Minister Dr. Prakash sharan Mahat was present as a special guest.

In the program that lasted for 2 days, parliamentarians, ministers, senior officials of the government of Nepal, representatives of partner organizations, representatives of the private sector, national and international speakers, subject experts, and various personalities working in the field of information and communication technology were present.

Razan Lamsal, President of ICT Foundation Nepal and Chairman of the program, said that the 2-day conclave, which was organized as an effort to measure digital competence for digital transformation, discussed the various dimensions of digital competence and it will also help the government in policy making.

Similarly, while addressing the opening session of the conclave, the chief guest Prime Minister ‘Prachanda’ said that it is necessary to emphasize on infrastructure and security to develop digital capabilities.

Speaking at the Fireside Power Samvad of the inaugural session, special guest Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma said that recently information technology is not only important for entertainment but also for production and digital economy.

Similarly, while addressing the closing session, Finance Minister Prakash sharan Mahat said that the findings from the Huawei Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 will be useful for the government.

“Information technology can make a great contribution to Nepal’s economy,” he said, “The government is leading to develop the ICT sector. We are ready to cooperate with everyone for this.”

Prime Minister’s IT expert Prakash Rayamajhi said that there were various discussions on digital competence in the 2-day program and that there should be cooperation between the state and the private sector for digital competence.


Jim Wang, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Nepal, said that Huawei will help in achieving the goals of digital Nepal and sustainable development.

Concluding the same program, former Minister of Science and Technology; Ganesh Shah said that digital Nepal is possible only if there is digital capability.

Dilip Agrawal; President of World link, Chairman of Advisory Committee of Seoul Digital Foundation of South Korea; Dr. Chang Hak Choi, Lee Yun Seng; Senior Industry Solutions Expert at Huawei Asia Pacific Region, Secretary of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology; Krishna Bahadur Raut, Founder of India’s The Digital Fifth; Sameer Singh Jaini, Sameer Maskey; Founder of Fuse Machines, Professor Hill H. Kobayashi of Tokyo University, Japan gave the keynote presentation for the event.

In 2 days, there were extensive discussions on digital infrastructure, digital introduction, digital governance, digital innovation and entrepreneurship, digital capability, digital economy, fintech, data governance, digital security, digital leadership and digital capability.


On the first day of the conclave, there was a panel discussion on supporting infrastructure for digital capabilities, digital identity as a basic anchor and municipal and state efforts and practices in digital governance.

Similarly, on the second day, there was a large panel discussion on digital innovation and entrepreneurial capacity, basic tech stack and digital capacity building, digital economy and financial technology capacity, data governance and digital security for digital capacity, and digitally enabled Nepal.

In addition, subject experts also presented their papers before the panel discussion started. More than 70 resource persons participated in the 2-day conclave.

The conclave emphasized Nepal’s capability for digital transformation and the necessary policy formulation and implementation.
This year’s Huawei Digital Nepal Conclave organized by ICT Foundation Nepal is the second edition. As a pre-event of the conclave, the conclave was organized as a grand event in Kathmandu after the foundation conducted the ‘Digital Pradesh Samvad’ program in all the seven provinces.

In the conclave, the second edition of the ‘Digital Pradesh Paridrishya’ book with information on the digital situation and capabilities of all the seven provinces was also released.

Along with the conclave, Huawei, the top sponsor, organized the Mobile Nepal Congress as a mini–Mobile World Congress in a separate hall. The participants in the Mobile Nepal Congress were informed about new technologies along with 5G, AI, Green Data Center.

In the Digital Nepal Conclave 2023 being held in collaboration with Huawei, Powered by Yarsa and Connected By, Nepal Telecom had many great partners.
