Synchronized Blood Drive on World Blood Donors Day and BDA Establishment Day June

Enepalese Published on: August 15, 2022

On the occasion of 'World Blood Donors Day” and “Blood Donors of America” (BDA), establishment day (June-14), Nepalese Association in Southeast America (NASeA) and Blood
Donors of America (BDA) in collaboration with local organizations of different States and cities organized synchronized blood donation drive. It was the 5 th synchronized blood donation
BDA organized and 3 rd with NASeA, after the MOU was signed between two organization in September-2020, as one clause in the MOU is to organize synchronized blood donation at least
once a year.

As per BDA and NASeA’s executive board meeting decision, NASeAVice President Mr. Satish Chandra Gupta was appointed as the central coordinator for this week-long Synchronized Blood
Drive. Both BDA and NASeA Central Executive Committee and the local committee members worked hard to recruit as many donors as possible. Even though the date was set from June 11-
19, the donations at San Antonio and Austin on June-25 and 26 are also counted as they were planned as part of the synchronized blood donation and had to organize later due to staffing and
scheduling conflict in the blood banks.

To organize this Synchronized Blood Drive professionally and smoothly, BDA organized multiple meetings with State Coordinators and a Live Zoom Press meeting was organized and
aired through ENepalese and was moderated by BDA Vice President Mr. Maheshwar from Boston, Massachusetts.

This year we organized the Blood drive in 17 Cities in 9 states.

In addition to the blood donation in United States, there was a blood donation event organized in Nepal at Janaki Secondary School, Meghauli, Chitawan on June-14, as per the agreement
between BDA and Janaki School, while establishing BDA- Ira Acharya Scholarship Fund. 47 people, 42 men and 7 women, donated blood altogether. So, in total of 176 people (129 + 47)
donated blood during the weeklong synchronized blood donation event.

On behalf of the organizing committee, we want to salute all Blood donor’s heroes for saving human lives and all the state coordinators for their hard work and dedication to organizing this
synchronized Blood Drive in their respective states and neighboring cities.

Our Special thanks to our former president Mr. Arjun Mainali, who donated Blood in Mexico on 6/14/2022 to educate the importance of blood donation and values in human lives. This was his
203 rd Blood Donation.

BDA former Executive Vice President and INBDA President Mr. Ajaya Satyal donated 198 th time in Delray Beach, Florida. Also, BDA Vice President Dr. Bijay Kattel and Mrs. Archana
Kattel as well as NASeA President Krishna Shrestha also donated Blood in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Special thanks go to BDA President Dr. Lila Raj Dahal and the entire BDA Executive Board, Past President and Chief Adviser of BDA Dr. Nanda Regmi, BDA State Coordinators, BDA life
members, and friends for helping and supporting organizing this important Synchronized Blood Drive event with grand success. BDA President Dr. Dahal donated at Columbus Ohio in the
donation program jointly organized by NRNA-Ohio and BDA.

We also like to thank NASeA President, Mr. Krishna Shrestha, and NASeA Executive Board and friends for encouragement and support to successfully organize the Synchronized Blood drive in
various states at NASeA region and beyond. We are incredibly thankful to our BDA former presidents Mr. Arjun Mainalli, Dr. Lila Karki, and Former NASeA president Mr. Bimal Nepal for their encouragement, guidance, and suggestions. In addition, various organizations working with the Synchronized Blood Donation organizing team i. e. NRNA state chapters, Rocky Mountain Friends of Nepal, Nepali Ghar, INLS-Colorado, World Newah Organization, Sister Group Colorado, Nepali Communities in various cities in Texas e.g. Austin, San Antonio, Waco, Plano, Lubbock deserve credit for their commitment and encouragement to local people for blood donation. Of course, it wouldn’t have been successful without support from various people in different walks of lives and we need more support in such future campaigns.

At last, we want to request everyone to think about donating blood as one pint of blood can save up to 3 lives and there is nothing better than saving someone’s life. Moreover, there is no
artificial synthesis of human blood in the laboratory and so blood needed to save someone sustaining accidents, major surgery, leukemia etc. has to come from someone’s else. If you think
you and your loved one may need blood one day to survive through such occasions from someone, why don’t you give now to someone in need, if you are capable to do so ?

Thank you very much.
Respectfully
