Nepalese soccer league started in DC metro area

Nepalese American Football Club (NAFC) launched first ever Nepalese soccer league tournament in DC metro area beginning December 10, 2021. The main objective of this league is to promote Nepalese American soccer within DC metro area. NAFC as an organizer we believe building our community bond stronger via sports; promote Nepalese youth and adult soccer players providing a platform to display their talents, share and develop our core values amongst sports loving community members.

The first edition of league tournament will feature eight local Nepalese teams from northern Virginia area. Competition winners will be decided through a round-robin group stage to qualify for knockout stage and a final.The eight teams are drawn into two groups of four teams and play each other in a single round-robin system. The two group winners and two runner-ups proceed to knockout phase that culminates with the final championship in mid January 2022. The Championship has a winning purse of $500.00, trophy, medals and certificate while league runnerup will be awarded with trophy medal and certificate. League’s most valuable player (MVP), highest scorer(s) and best goal keeper will take home trophy and certificate.

Current teams to compete in NAFC’s winter soccer league 2021/22 comprise DCNFC soccer club, Himalayan Bhakundo FC, Everest Lions FC, Loudoun Tigers, NAFC- Team A, NAFC- Team B, United Nepalese FC- La Cobham and United Nepalese FC- La Masia. Entire league tournament will be played at Sully Highlands Park, 13808 Wall Road,Herndon VA 20171 (Field 2) each Friday and Tuesday at 7:30 PM. NAFC’s winter soccer league 2021/22 is supported by Zen travels.

NAFC’s vision is to promote local Nepalese soccer beyond friendly matches, local tournaments and recreational game.Club will be organizing more competitive league games, 35+ league tournaments and youth soccer camps in year 2022.
