Dear NPPA Community Members, Jwajalapa:
We are now seeking article submissions to our annual Daboo Magazine, and you are cordially invited to send essays, short stories, poems, opinion pieces, jokes, informational write-ups on any aspect of Nepali culture/traditions as well as any useful write-up related to the ongoing pandemic. In this year’s issue, we will also be commemorating NPPA’s 30th Anniversary! If you would like to contribute, please familiarize yourself with our guidelines below. Our magazine will be released in November 2021 and your final submission must be emailed to [email protected] by July 31, 2021.
Suggested submission length is 1,000 words. If the author believes the article needs to be longer, then s/he should communicate with the editor prior to submission. We invite submissions ranging from short vignettes to well-developed articles, and opinion pieces. We are seeking articles written in a reader-friendly style, and ask contributors to share stories and their personal/community experiences with concrete examples. These are what will make ideas and observations most useful and relevant to our members and readers.
As to style, we will respect your personal touch. As in the past, we are seeking articles where the readers can see, hear, and feel the people, events, difficulties, and inspiration/s you’re writing about. We are also seeking articles that highlight the global Newah community’s history and efforts to give continuity to their cultural identity. If an accompanying image/s will make your subject more compelling, we will be happy to publish it too. In addition, we also invite original short stories, poems, and jokes. If you are making a submission, please also include two to three lines of autobiographical information. (Where you live, your interests, community affiliations, etc.).
We also request that you support NPPA by placing your business advertisements and personal greetings in Daboo. Last year, we published your advertisements and personal greetings free of charge as well as distributed the 2020 issue for free. Please contact any Executive Committee member of NPPA this year to place your advertisements/personal greetings. The rates for 2021 are as follows:
Full back cover – $750
Full inside front cover – $450
Full inside back cover – $350
Full page – $175
Half business – $100
Half personal with photo – $100
Quarter business – $50
Quarter personal – $35
