NRNA NCC USA Cultural Exchange and Internship Program Committee organized an interaction program on 3/26/2021 between high school students (grades 11-12) from the US and Nepal on the topic, “Youth and COVID-19: Impacts on Educational and Social Life.” The program was held virtually via Zoom and was live-streamed on Facebook and other social media. Over 70 students, teachers, principals, and parents participated in the interaction program. The program was moderated by Dr. Thakur Karki and Professor Gyan Nyaupane.
Students from the following schools from Nepal participated on the panel:

2. Ramkot Madhyamic Bidhyalaya, Kaski
3. Shree Ratna Rajya Secondary School, Sindhupalchowk
4. Shree Kshama Devi Secondary School, Sindhupalchowk
5. Padmodaya Public Model Secondary School, Dang
6. Little Angels School, Hattiban, Lalitpur
7. Small Heaven Model School, Chitwan
8. Adarsha Bal Secondary School, Lamjung
From the U.S., students from the following states participated on the panel:
1) Massachusetts
2) New York
3) North Carolina
4) Arizona
5) Texas
The program started with a quick introduction of the committee members and panelists followed by an address from the NRNA NCC USA President Mr. Suneel Shah and General Secretary Mr. Pashupati Pandey. Students shared their experiences on three major issues: instructional practices during COVID-19 lockdown and thereafter, health and safety precautions in school and at home, and social life during the pandemic. Participating students were also actively engaged in discussing the issues and asking questions and answering them. The questions and discussions were focused on barriers, issues, and coping strategies during the pandemic.
Finally, the participating students were asked to pick a topic of their interest, such as social, educational, economic, environmental, political, technological, health, etc., that they would like to discuss in the future. The committee is compiling the information. Based on the information, the committee will plan for focus group interaction programs in the near future.
