Note: To complete the dissertation and to pursue a doctorate, The University of North America had involved this writer in research on factors contributing to the success of the Nepalese business in the United States.
I am thankful for the university’s support to manage and facilitate to conduct great work like this. These excerpts are the first in the publication series, and the other write-ups will be published continually.

Here are some of the excerpts not precisely, but the essence is the same. I will try to publish in a series and hope that this will be a supporting material for those who want to flourish and initiate their own business
Part 4
Other entrepreneurs said they intended to internationalize Nepalese cuisine. The central concept is to serve fresh, simple, and organic foods prepared in a Nepalese style.
Some entrepreneurs explained that they started to work in Seven-Eleven retail stores or Harris Teeter stores. The work experience and business knowledge gained there taught them how to manage, plan, coordinate, and control businesses.
This led them to open a company of the same kind after their apprentice years. Other participants expressed similar views. One explained that he worked almost ten years for Boston Markets as a District Manager before opening his own business of the same kind.
One participant reported that his Bachelor of Science educational background and his technical-know how, plus his understanding of the entrepreneurial process, all started him on the road to opening a successful new business venture.
The participant, now engaged in operating a restaurant business, explained that he had entered the United States of America, had started to work in a restaurant, and had gained experience enough to prepare him to open his own new business. He had spent 15 years in hotel work, and thus he was able to open a hotel, eventually, in the United States.
One participant in operating a grocery store stated that his father had a grocery store business in Nepal. This initiated his business career, enabling him to run such a retail store business in the United States.
One participant reported that he worked in a grocery store in the US and Nepal for many years. This enabled him to run the same retail grocery business here in the United States. Another participant expressed a similar view: He started to work in a pizza store, gained knowledge about the pizza business, and ultimately opened his own pizza business.
One participant explained that when he entered the US, he started to work in a restaurant, engaged for some time in a franchisee business, and then worked as a General Manager for Wendy’s. The previous experience led him to start his own business after some years. One participant stated that he had been in the restaurant business for the past 17 years; he began as kitchen help, then became a server, a manager, and, ultimately, an Owner/General Manager.
One participant reported that he started to work in a restaurant and stayed there for four years. During that time, he gained enough business knowledge to start his own restaurant business. He learned the trade, gained business knowledge, and started his own restaurant business. He stated with pride that he was the first Nepalese entrepreneur to establish a business in Maryland. That encouraged other Nepalese entrepreneurs to develop businesses in and around Baltimore’s downtown.
In summary, it is noteworthy that the significant factors for a majority of Nepalese who have started businesses in the United States were the training and experiences they had received either directly in the industry or a field closely aligned with their current endeavor.
