I am Ribesh Khanal from Nepal. I am currently doing Master’s in Public Administration in China Three Gorges University under College of Law and Public Administration. Our university is located in Hubei Province about 300 km far from the COVID-19 epicentre in Wuhan, China.

I am among few Nepalese resident who decided to stay back during this crisis in China. I am currently staying in door in International Student Dormitory in China Three Gorges University. Currently in Yichang, Hubei number of people infected are 931, 707 recovered and 33 dead while no new cases from 6th of March.

Currently in Yichang we are in lockdown for 5 weeks. Since, the start of the epidemic students were advice on the safety protocols and guidelines on how to not get expose or infected by the virus. Once the Yichang was lockdown the China Three Gorges University has provided all the necessary needs such as food both cooked in canteen as well as cooking materials for those who want to cook in dormitory, sanitary needs, free thermometer, free mask as well as consultation on mental stress in regard to the current circumstances. 24-hour University Hotline for Help is also provided.

To ensure everyone is safe daily update of student body temperature is recorded and provided to respective department. Food and cooking materials are delivered in the building via the help of logistic management team and dedicated volunteers from International Student Association of China Three Gorges University.

So far, no International Student has been reported for Corona Virus infection in China Three Gorges University. In considering future of student for completion of course on time, online classes have been started and for those graduating online Thesis defence has been planned.

University teachers are in contact with the students on daily basis via the we-chat or other online platform. During this time, Some super markets have delivered good through online ordering system and contact less delivery.
