On the occasion of 29th death anniversary of Swar Samrat,  by the eldest participants of the Mr. Narayan Gopal Gurubacharya, a musical night was organized by the frontiers of Nepali Community of Surrey, British Columbia. The five hours long event was participated by more than 50 passionate singers and song lovers. The show was inaugurated simultaneouslyevent, Mr. Buddi Ratna Dangol and Mr. Mankajee “Jena” by offering garland to the photo of Swar Samrat and lighting the oil lamp. Welcoming all the participants to the event, Mr. Mankajee “Jena”, the chair person of the committee delivered a short speech where he shed the light upon the fact that the committee had been successfully conducting events like these for a past several years.

Also, he mentioned that this was the second time the committee is organizing an event to honour Narayan Gopal. The first of such event was conducted on December 07, 2013 at the residence of Mankajee and Bina. He also noted that events have been conducted to pay tribute to other late singers, poets, writers, musicians of Nepal such as Ambar Gurung, Fathe Man, Gopal Yonjan, Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Siddi Charan Shrestha, Jagdish Ghimere, Huta Ram Vaidhya. As the cold December evening advanced, a beautiful musical ambience filled the hall.

Around 20 singers sang duet and solo numbers, with or without being accompanied by a musical instrument. These included , but not limited to: – Dueta phool dueralima, Mailay punya manparayein, Maya garnay ko chokho maya pani dekhiyo, Ishwor taile rachera feri, Luku luku lagyo malai, Aljhecha kyare pachauri timro chiya ko botaima, Birtako chino, Malai nasodha kahan dukcha ghaau, Pokhiyera ghaam ko jhulka, Yeti chokho yeto mitho. Poetess Ms. Anita Giri gave a marvelous performance by reciting her self-composed Gajal while the duo of Niranjan Babu and Puja entertained the participants by a quiz with a prize!

The show was hosted flawlessly by the announcers Mr. Kalyan Thapa and Ms. Anu Rai while the delicacies prepared by Ms. Bina and Ms. Bimu’s made the evening more delightful. Time passed like a blink of an eye and before the participants realized, it was almost 10 p.m.! It is important to acknowledge N.C.S.B.C and Prof. Dr. Ratna Kumar for contributing the funds to make the event possible. Also, it is important to note that the president of N.C.S.B.C, Mr. Kalyan Thapa and Vice-president Ms. Pratima Parajuli, a poet and a poetess, respectively, were both the participants of the event. Another noteworthy highlight of the event was that under the initiation of Mr. Mankajee “Jena” a committee was created to give continuation to the events like these in future. This committee included the Ms. Anu Rai, Ms. Sushila Sharma, Ms. Tifa Vaidya, Ms. Aastha Pandey, Mr. Kalyan Thapa, Ms. Sushma Pradhan and Mr. Bimal Puri. Lastly, the program was concluded with a note of gratitude to the participants in an anticipation of another event fixed for the Feb 2, 2020. Vancouver, Surrey, BC, Canada, 7 December 2019.
