Help Needed !

Dear Nepali Community Members and Friends of Nepal,

Namaste and Greetings from Atlanta ,USA !

Rama Maharjan, 32, prematurely gave birth to all-girls quadruplets on October 24, 2019 in Grady Hospital, Atlanta. She was 34-weeks pregnant; and her husband Bijay Maharjan, 38, was on her side when the babies were delivered by C-section. In the excitement and joy of immediately adding four new members to their family, the Maharjan couple hardly realized that their lives had changed dramatically on this day and will never be the same again.

The babies, weighing between 2.14 lbs to 3.1 lbs, were admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of the hospital. In the words of GradyHealth, “the Maharjan sisters are growing and marking new milestones every day. Mom, Rama, is starting to see little personalities too – sleepy Abeena, smiling Bhagya, quiet Chahana, and feisty Dikshya – as she settles in to rock and hold each one.” Rama and her husband Bijay are so grateful to the doctors and nurses at Grady Hospital for doing an amazing job of caring for the girls. Now, after 45 days at NICU, the doctors have determined that the babies are not medically fragile and are sending them home one by one.

It will be an understatement to state that the couple is totally overwhelmed by the entry of the quadruplets into their lives. Rama, who used to visit the babies in the hospital every day, says, “when all four girls start to cry at the same time, I don’t even know where to begin.” The couple is facing an uphill task of parenting these beautiful girls and supporting their physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.

The couple needs your help toward paying for home care workers to purchasing essential supplies for these babies. Bijay’s sole income as a fast food restaurant worker is totally inadequate to cover their day-to-day expenses.

The Nepali Cultural Center (NCC) in Atlanta, in cooperation with the Nepalese Association of Georgia (NAG), is asking you to open your heart and help the Maharjan family in these times of need, which will go a long way in raising these babies. Both NCC and  NAG are non-profit 501c3 charities.

All of the money raised will go directly to the Maharjan family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity .

A friend in need is a friend indeed !
