New York Nepali Community Excited about Global Nepali Health Conference

The upcoming 1st Global Nepali Health Conference received strong support from the Nepali Community residing in the New York.At a meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Mustang Thakali Restaurant on Saturday, Aug 24, numerous leaders and social workers including the following expressed the value of the conference and the role each and together can play for its success: Sanjaya Thapa, Bandana Koirala, Ram Hari Adhikari, Anu Khadka, Binod Ruwali, Chandra GC, Shova Kanta Pandey, Purushottam Panthee.

Dr. Sanjeeb Sapkota, the chairperson of the conference welcomed everyone at the meeting and gave highlights of the Global Nepali Health Conference.
Suresh Parajuli and Sabina Sapkota were among the attendees at the meeting.

The participants shared outstanding ideas about how the conference could be a unique meeting point for everyone involved in the health of Nepali people to be motivated and be synerzied.

Partnership with Lions Club to provide vision screening, involvement or youth in the conference and discuss their health issues including rising suicide rates, exposure to tobacco and alcohol , mental health, enhancing awareness on health insurance,
reaching out to Nepalese American Nurses Association (NANA), involving physicians widely. A participants said, “a large group of us will come driving to Atlanta for the conference.

Khagendra GC, Dr. Binod Shah, Nabin Sherchan, Gobinda Shrestha, Radha Paudel, Rewoti Raj Adhikari among other in New York or northeast are playing critical role in promoting the conference.

Earlier an informal meeting with key members of Connecticut Nepali Community was held including with Aman Karki who expressed the need of health education to all age groups.
