We are saddened to learn the demise of Mr. Hem Raj Sapkota at Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, June 7, 2019, after a long fight with Parkinson’s disease. He is the dear father of our own Dr. Sanjeeb Sapkota, Chairperson of Global Health and Hygiene Committee of NRNA. And, he was the son of Mahananda Sapkota, the great poet, renowned social reformer, and national jewel of Nepal.
Mr. Hem Raj Sapkota is a retired officer of Nepal government. He was a dedicated and honorable civil service officer. He served as the Chief District Officer (CDO) for 14 districts in Nepal and as the Land Reform Officer (LRO) for 5 districts. His services to the nation and people will always remain with Nepal and Nepalis he served. We pray the almighty to provide strength to the Sapkota family to overcome this grief. We pray that God bless the departed soul with great comfort, peace, and eternal bliss. May the effects of his good karmas on this Earth remain with him.
Mr. Sapkota is survived by his wife (Geeta Devi Sapkota), son (Dr. Sanjeeb Sapkota) (and daughter-in-law), three daughters (and son-in-laws), and seven grandchildren.
