America Nepal Society: 50th Anniversary ( Golden Jublee )

The 1st Nepali Organization in

North America “America Nepal Society ( ANS ) was established in 1967 for the purpose of fostering

US – Nepal relationship through the Public Diplomacy. To Celebrate it’s 50th Anniversary ( Golden Jublee ), the Oldest Nepali Organization ANS Organized Asian Heritage Festival in Centreville, Virginia on 28 May 2017, Sunday. A day long festival was consists of Blood Donation, Art Exhibition with the Photo Contest, Typical Nepali Concert & Awards Ceremony.

Greetings / Speech were given by the US State Delegate & Democratic Party Leaders to the audience. Also, a Political Director read Greetings Letter sent by Virginia Senator. All programs were conducted in English. At the end of the event, Nepali Concert’s Artists, Coordinators / Volunteers were awarded.

His Excellency Ambassador of Nepal to the United States of America Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki felicitated to
the former ANS Presidents. Event’s Chief Guest HE Ambassador Felicitated by distributing Certificates with Khada to the former
ANS Presidents :

Mr. Khem Bhattachan, Mrs. Bijaya Shah, Mr Prem Sangraula,
Dr. Anup Pahadi & Dr. Thakur Pudasainee.

 

 

During a Program winner contestants of ANS Heritage Photo Contest 2017 were also awarded. Out of 10 contestants Kijan Shakya holds the first place, who took a photo of an artist performing a Vajrapani traditional Newari dance, Sankalp K.C who holds a second place, who took a picture of Mount Dhaulagari 1 and Merina Dangol secured third place, who took a picture of Patan Durbar Square before an earthquake. All three winners were awarded with cameras.

” We have started this contest to let people know the value of Heritage, Culture, Tradition and Tourism and how it plays a role to continue a good relation between Nepal and the U.S and the importance of photo in our life” said Photojournalist from the Embassy of Nepal and the Photo Judge of the contest ” Nepal Ambassador to the U.S. Dr Arjun Kumar Karki and the President of ANS honored him with a cefrificate and the recognition.
