Nepalese community of Indianapolis participated in Indy 500 Festival Parade 2017

May 27, 2017 Indianapolis IN – Nepalese Association of Indiana leaded by President Arun Rajbhandari and his team coordinated and facilitated Nepalese community to take part in IPL Indy 500 Festival Parade held on May 27, 2017. The parade’s theme is “Accelerating the American Spirit.”

The Parade was observed and cheered by more than 300000 people lined up in the Pennsylvania street of downtown Indianapolis. This parade does not only encourages spectacle in racing, but also honors the men and women who have served the country.

As stated by Mr Arun Rajbhandari, Nepalese community has participated in this parade for the first time since its establishment on 2010. Our participants were proud and overwhelmed to represent and demonstrate diverse culture of Nepal and Nepali to the world via Indy 500 Festival Parade. The Nepalese participants were well dressed with various ethnic dresses like Daura Suruwal by Men’s and women’s representing and wearing diverse ethnic dresses like Haku pattase, Tamang selo, Saari, and traditional Newari dress. Our Center of attraction to thousands of viewer is Nepali folk dance and Lakhe Dance-a traditional mask dance performed by a Newar community in Nepal. He said “Over all it was a great moment, great ceremony, great event and a great parade, that made us proud to be a part”.

An encouraging announcement made by Parade Comittee stating Nepalese Association of Indiana as an “Outstanding speciality unit of the day” that includes diverse culture made our head high with pride. Mr. Rajbhandari heartily thanked all participants, community members Parade Comittee and his executive team for enthusiastic support and performance during parade. He also said that organizing Parade was a big challenge to me, but support from all eased me to make this event a grand success. He also said “I am excited to be part of Indy 500 Festival Parade next year again with more planning and enthusiasm”.
