Chef Doug Alexander of Art & Soul, Willard InterContinental and Gorkhaly Foundation host dinner to rebuild village at the epicenter of devastating earthquake

Washington D.C. – Foodies in the nation’s capital will have an opportunity to support Nepal, the country that experienced a devastating earthquake in late April, by participating in Dine for Nepal hosted by Art and Soul restaurant, the Willard InterContinental and Gorkhaly Foundation at the Mess Hall in Brookland, North-East DC on Friday, May 15, 2015.

“Seeing the images and hearing the words of the destruction in Nepal from friends and strangers hit me deeply,” said Doug Alexander, chef de cuisine at Art & Soul. “Dine for Nepal is our way to help Nepal. It seemed natural to bring people together to not only eat but to support those in need.”

Alexander will be working with a team of talented Nepalis including Chef Arjun Ranabhat of Willard InterContinental and Shiva Nepal from Art and Soul. Serving the dinner will be Art and Soul servers KC Kiran and Hari Lama. Shiva, Arjun, KC and Hari are Nepali and have family back home in Nepal.

Dine for Nepal will cost $50.00 per person. All the proceeds will be donated to Gorkhaly Foundation’s mission to rebuild the village of Barpak, which was at the epicenter of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that flattened what was once a model of rural development. The funds will provide both immediate relief to the hardest hit families and help in restoring Barpak to its former glory.
